Jonathan Brodsky - Founder and Principal 

  • Prior to founding Cedar Street Asset Management LLC, Jonathan established the non-U.S. investment practice at Advisory Research, Inc., (“ARI”) a Chicago-based asset management firm, with the two founders of ARI. 
  • During Jonathan’s tenure at ARI, the non-U.S. investment practice grew into a multi-strategy, multi-billion dollar AUM business across a range of investment vehicles. 
  • Jonathan also has experience in the field of Socially Responsible Investing ("SRI"). While at ARI, Jonathan served as a sub-advisor and a portfolio manager for Calvert Investment, Inc.'s International Opportunities Fund. Calvert Investment, Inc. is a leader in SRI investing. 
  • Prior to joining ARI, Jonathan worked for the U.S. Securities and Exchanges Commission's Office of International Affairs, focusing on cross-border regulatory, corporate governance, and enforcement matters. Prior to the SEC, Jonathan was an investment banker in corporate finance for JPMorgan Securities, Inc.  Jonathan also worked for Ogilvy & Mather in Beijing, China.
  • Jonathan received a J.D. and M.B.A (Kellogg) from Northwestern University and a B.A. in Political Science and an M.A. in International Affairs (Maxwell School)  from Syracuse University.  As an undergraduate, Jonathan studied at Fu Jen University in Taipei, Taiwan. 
  • Jonathan is a frequent guest on CNBC, CNBC Asia, Fox Business, CCTV, and contributor to a range of business related publications.

Waldemar Mozes - Director of Investments, Portfolio Manager and Partner

  • Prior to joining Cedar Street Asset Management LLC, Waldemar developed and implemented the international investment capability at TAMRO Capital Partners LLC, an Alexandria, VA-based investment advisor specializing in small cap strategies for institutional investors. TAMRO was founded after its MBO from ABN AMRO in 2007. 
  • Waldemar launched TAMRO’s International Small Cap strategy in April 2013. He also served as sub-advisor for the Aston/TAMRO International Small Cap mutual fund.
  • Prior to launching the international strategy, he was Director of Research and Equity Analyst for TAMRO’s domestic strategies covering Industrials, Energy, Technology, and Materials. While in this role, AUM grew from $700 million to $2.6 billion.
  • Waldemar’s previous investment experience includes Equity Analyst – International Technology at Artisan Partners; Associate Analyst – Semiconductors at JMP Securities; and Equity Analyst Intern at Capital Group all in San Francisco, CA.
  • Prior to starting his career in investing, Waldemar was involved in the founding and/or early stage development of six start-ups in Boston, Silicon Valley, and Europe, including one successful IPO (Covad Communications).
  • Waldemar is a Board Member of Asante Africa Foundation, a non-profit organization dedicated to providing underprivileged children in Kenya and Tanzania with access to education and entrepreneurship and job readiness training.
  • ​Waldemar studied Economics (BA) at Boston College and Finance and Entrepreneurship (MBA) at The UC Berkeley Haas School of Business and was awarded a Venture Capital Fellowship and a Certificate in Entrepreneurship from the Haas Lester Center for Entrepreneurship.
  • Waldemar was born in Nades, Romania.

Brian MacMillan - Director of Business Development and Partner

  • Prior to joining Cedar Street Asset Management LLC, from 2007 to 2017, Brian worked at Advisory Research, Inc., (“ARI”) a Chicago-based asset management firm, where he was Vice President of Business Development.
  • Brian was responsible for marketing to institutional plan sponsors, endowments, foundations and consultants and for helping to formulate business development strategies, including ARI's 40 Act Mutual Fund business, which grew to over US$1bn in AUM during his tenure.  
  • Brian managed relationships across the country and overseas, including ARI's largest single relationship with over $1bn in invested assets.  His product mandate included international small cap value, emerging markets small cap value, equity long/short and MLP.
  • Previous investment experience includes investment consulting and wealth management. Brian studied Finance and Economics (B.S) at the University of Tulsa and has his Series 7 & 63.

Joanne Moffic-Silver - General Counsel and Chief Compliance Officer

  • Joanne Moffic-Silver has almost 40 years of direct experience in financial markets and corporate law. From 1997 to 2018, Joanne served as Executive Vice President, General Counsel and Corporate Secretary of Cboe Global Markets and its predecessor firms & subsidiary exchanges. 
  • During her tenure at the CBOE, Joanne built a department of over twenty lawyers, provided executive level strategic guidance, broad corporate legal support, oversaw key aspects of compliance related to conflicts of interest, securities transactions, and insider trading. Joanne also developed strong regulatory relationships in Washington D.C.
  • Prior to joining Cboe in 1980, Joanne served as a staff attorney for the CME Group.
  • Joanne received her J.D. degree with high honors from Northwestern University Pritzker School of Law in 1977, and her B.A. with high honors (Phi Beta Kappa) from the University of Wisconsin in 1974.
  • Joanne has been an executive committee member of Northwestern University Pritzker School of Law since 2011, and an active member of its Law Advisory Board since 1999.
  • Among Joanne’s professional awards are: Anti-Defamation League’s Women of Achievement in 2015, First Chair Top General Counsel in 2013, 2014, 2015, 2016, 2017, and National Law Journal’s Legal Department of the Year in Corporate Compliance in 2015.
  • Joanne’s several volunteer activities include: Midwest Regional Board Member of the Anti-Defamation League, Mentor for the American Corporate Partners Women’s Veteran Program, and Mentor for female students sponsored by Aspire, and Director of MISSD (Medication-Induced Suicide Prevention and Education Foundation) a nonprofit organization.

Joshua Raizin - Research Analyst

  • Joshua Raizin serves as a research analyst focused on global equities. He has seven years of experience investing in international markets. 
  • Previously, Joshua was a private equity associate at Batavia Prosperindo Asset Management in Jakarta, Indonesia, where he focused on investing in the broader ASEAN region.
  • Joshua also previously worked on the investment teams at Equity International in Chicago and Arocrest Capital Management in Hong Kong. Prior to that, he was an investment banking analyst at Cabrera Capital Markets. 
  • Joshua has an M.B.A. from the University of Chicago Booth School of Business and a B.S. from Northwestern University in Economics, Political Science, and Film. As an undergraduate, he also studied at Queen Mary College of the University of London, UK.

Mason Zheng - Research Analyst

  • Mason Zheng serves as a research analyst focused on global equities. He has nine years of cross-functional work experience in Asia and Europe.
  • Prior to joining CSAM, Mason worked at ARCH Venture Partners in Chicago as an Investment Consultant specializing in early stage investments in chemicals, materials and life science. 
  • Mason has also worked at LANXESS in Shanghai, China as a Project Manager in mergers and acquisition projects. Prior to that, he worked at Air Products and Chemicals at its China and U.K. offices and later at SGL Group as a Business Development Manager.
  • Mason has an M.B.A. from the University of Chicago Booth School of Business. He also holds an M.S. in Environmental Engineering and a B.S. in Applied Chemistry from Shanghai Jiao Tong University.

Atsushi Saito - Research Analyst

  • Atsushi Saito serves as a research analyst focused on global equities. He has six years of experience in project management and industrial marketing in Japan and the United States.
  • Prior to joining CSAM, Atsushi was a summer associate at Morgan Stanley and Unison Capital, a private equity firm.
  • Atsushi also worked at Aerospace Department at Sojitz Corporation, a Japanese trading house, where he focused on business development and commercial aircraft investments. He also worked at Seattle branch of the company and on secondment as a business analyst at Boeing.
  • Atsushi has an M.B.A. from the University of Chicago Booth School of Business and B.A. from Keio University in Economics. He also studied at HEC Paris as an exchange student.

Andrew Pokorney - Trading and Operations

  • Andrew Pokorney serves as the head of trading and operations at Cedar Street Asset Management LLC. Andrew has over 13 years of institutional experience in various trading and operations functions.
  • Prior to joining CSAM, Andrew worked at Spot Trading LLC where he focused on front office operations and trading execution. Andrew was responsible for the clearing lifecycle and related account processes for equity/index stock and options. He also managed trading execution for a futures strategy while assisting in trading parameter management and process automation.
  • ​Prior to joining Spot, Andrew was an Index Futures/Options Trader at Equitec Group LLC. At Equitec, he made markets on the CME and CBOE exchanges. He was also responsible for settling and balancing trading accounts post-trade. Andrew has also worked at several option trading firms in trading, operations, and technology capacities.
  • ​​Andrew has studied Finance at Missouri Southern State University and Computer Information Systems at Northwestern University, where he is set to graduate in 2019. He also holds a Series 57 registration.
